Canning Lake
What a view. That's the first thing that comes to mind when you enter this new Country home. The setting is a point lot that faces east, west and south on Canning Lake. The old building site allowed the new home to be closer to the waters edge than normally permitted. This was also done to protect a spring fed stream that runs along the back of the property.

The open concept living area features a great room that faces southeast. The eat-in kitchen faces west for the afternoon sun and evening sunsets. The east facing master bedroom lets in the morning sun. There are 3 bedrooms in total, each with their own 4 piece bathroom. There is also a powder room and laundry room on the main floor

The siding is pine channel with a lifetime preservative. The windows are also pine with aluminum cladding. The roof is 35yr asphalt shingles.

Truly breathtaking is the only way to describe this executive lakeside sanctuary. The Hand crafted timber frame is all recycled Douglas fir, that was gathered from all over the province and some coming from Saskatchewan.

The exterior uses BC cedar for the siding and shingles, while the windows are Douglas fir with aluminum cladding for a truly maintenance free escape. The natural stone facing on the porches, patios and lower foundation walls tie right back to the rugged nature of the lot.

The interior features both recycled and new Douglas fir. Other woods include cedar, maple, pine, fir ash, and oak all working together to create something truly special.

Drag Lake
This Country home lies on one of Haliburton's most sought after lakes. The property has a breathtaking exposure to the southern end of Drag Lake. Lots of large windows capture the view and bring the outside in.

The handcrafted timber frame in the main living area takes you back in time. The timber frame is eastern white pine, and painted surfaces are used as a backdrop. The detailed workmanship and quality is evident from the moment you pass though the front door.

The design features include the kitchen and great room on the main level. A study lies off the great room and they share a see through wood burning fireplace. The butler's pantry serves as a link between laundry room and the kitchen.

The upper loft overlooks the great room, and separates the master suite and the two smaller bedrooms. The bedrooms each have dormers to give a cozy, nestled ambience. Guest rooms, TV room, sauna, and storage area make up the lower level.

The exterior is factory stained channel siding with western red cedar decks, stairs and handrails. The roof is also done in western red cedar shakes and the windows are Douglas fir with aluminum cladding.

Drag Lake 2
This home is truly a treat for the senses. It features 3400 sq ft of living space including the lower and main levels as well as a loft. It is nestled on 32 acres of undisturbed forest with a quiet bay of Drag Lake as a backdrop.

What makes this home truly unique is the use of handcrafted timber framing in the main living areas, and traditional construction methods in the secondary areas. This was done both to maximize the effect as well as the economics of the building. The home is filled with antique and reclaimed materials to complete the lodge retreat sensation. The design features all the amenities on the main level as well as the master suite. The family room and extra bedrooms are in the lower level, while the loft serves a home office.

The exterior is pine channel siding with eastern white cedar shingles on the gables. The roof is asphalt shingles and the windows are pine with aluminum cladding.

Kashagawigamog Lake
Dave and Irena came to us with an interesting idea. They wanted to reuse as much of their existing cottage as they could including the foundation. They wanted to modernize the look and feel of their new retreat. The result is outstanding. Using the contemporary lines of the rake head windows really made the front prow spectacular.

The interior is a splendid mixture of redwood detailing. The floors and cabinets are cherry, the ceilings, doors and trim are BC Cedar, and the beams are Douglas Fir and were recycled from the previous cottage as well.

The open concept captures the huge views of Lake Kashagawigamog making a seamless connection between the inside and outside. There are two bedrooms and a 4 pc bath on each floor, as well as a powder room and laundry on the main level.

The factory stained exterior is set off by the matching window shutters, extensive exterior decking, and our innovative railing design. The screened porch is constructed exclusively with recycled fir roof rafters and beams, as well as wall boards from the old cottage.

Cedar winds country Homes pulled the whole thing together without a hitch. I don't think there is another company in the area that would have taken the time to make sure everything was perfect.

West Guilford
This Country Home features two bedrooms and was designed with retirement living in mind. The barrier free design will accommodate wheelchairs and walkers in the event they become needed later. The main level being close to the exterior grade creates a truly ranch feel. This also means extensive ramps and decking will not become an issue in years to come.

The floor plan includes a master bedroom and ensuite, a spare bedroom, main level laundry/mud room, and an open concept living area for when the family comes home. The propane fireplace surrounded by stone and glass bring the outside in. The countertops are corian, and the bathing facilities are acrylic for easy maintenance.

The outside of the home is high grade vinyl siding with aluminum trim, and the decks are pressure treated. The posts and beams of the screened porch are pine with a lifetime wood preservative to ensure timeless service.

Our retirement home is more than we ever hoped it would be thanks to Cedar Winds. They helped us every step of the way.

Thank You so much!
